Remove Your Old ISP Settings
Switching Internet Service Providers shouldn't be difficult, and this step-by-step guide should allow you to make a seamless switch from your old ISP to RV ISP:
Remove ISP settings: Windows
To remove AOL, Prodigy, NetZero, Juno, CompuServe, etc.:
- From your desktop, right-click on the icon that opens your current providers program.
- Select Delete, when asked if you are sure you want this to be deleted, click Yes.
- Double-click on My Computer.
- Open the Control Panel.
- Double-click on Add/Remove Program.
- Scroll down until you see the name of your current provider.
- Highlight the name of your current provider and click Add/Remove.
- You may need to select the version(s) that you want to remove and click Next.
- After your computer completes the uninstall you will be asked to restart your computer. If all of your open programs are saved, click Yes.
To remove any other Internet Service Provider (ISP) for 95/98:
- From your desktop, right-click from your mouse on the icon that opens your current providers program.
- Select Delete, when asked if you are sure you want this to be deleted, click Yes.
- Double-click on my computer.
- Open Dial-up Networking.
- Right-click on the icon for your current ISP and select Delete, click Yes when the computer asks if you are sure you want to remove this program.
To remove any other Internet Service Provider (ISP) for 2000, ME:
- From your desktop, right-click from your mouse on the icon that opens your current providers program.
- Select Delete, when asked if you are sure you want this to be deleted, click Yes.
- Double-click on my computer.
- Open the Control Panel.
- Open Dial-up Networking.
- Right-click on the icon for your current ISP and select Delete, click Yes when the computer asks if you are sure you want to remove this program.
To remove any other Internet Service Provider (ISP) for NT:
- From your desktop, right-click from your mouse on the icon that opens your current providers program.
- Select Delete, when asked if you are sure you want this to be deleted, click Yes.
- Double-click on my computer.
- Open Dial-up Networking.
- From your phonebook select the entry that you want to remove and click Delete.
- When asked if you are sure you want to delete this entry say Yes.
Remove ISP settings: Macintosh
To remove AOL:
- Move any folders labeled as AOL or America Online on the Macintosh Hard Disk to the Trash Bin
- Go to systems folders, then go to extensions. Move any AOL extensions to the Extensions (Disabled) folder.
- Reboot the Macintosh. If no problems occur, and the desktop loads normally with no errors, empty the Trash Bin (Special/Empty Trash).
To remove Prodigy, NetZero, Juno, CompuServe, etc.:
- Move any folders labeled as Prodigy/NetZero/Juno/ CompuServe online on the Macintosh Hard Disk to the Trash Bin.
- Go to systems folders, then go to extensions. Move any Prodigy/NetZero/Juno/CompuServe extensions to the Extensions (Disabled) folder.
- Reboot the Macintosh. If no problems occur, and the desktop loads normally with no errors, empty the Trash Bin (Special/Empty Trash).
To remove any other Internet Service Provider (ISP) for Remote Access:
Normally, you can just remove the settings for the old ISP and replace them with RV ISP's info. However, for a fresh configuration:
- Open Remote Access, click the File menu, and click configuration.
- Choose "Default" for the list of configurations, then choose "copy". This will create a configuration called "Default" (copy).
- Highlight this new profile, then choose "Make Active." Then choose "Rename", and rename the new profile " RV ISP".
For a new TCP/IP configuration:
- Open TCP/IP, click the File menu, and click configuration.
- Choose "Default" for the list of configurations, then choose "copy". This will create a configuration called "Default" (copy).
- Highlight this profile, then choose "Make Active". Then choose "Rename", and rename the new profile " RV ISP."
